CARSON - In a close contest that featured 24 lead changes, Cal State Dominguez Hills narrowly fell to Sonoma State by a final score of 74-70 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) women's basketball matchup, Saturday at the Torodome.

CSUDH (4-6, 1-3 CCAA) had three players in double figures, led by senior
Destinee Williams' 17 points. Juniors
Janelle Sumilong and
Gabrielle Leos pitched in 14 and 12 points, respectively. SSU (7-2, 3-1 CCAA) was led by Ugochi Anudokem's 19 points.

The Toros led by as much as seven in the opening quarter and were up three, 16-13, by the end of it as Williams and Leos combined for 12 of CSUDH's 16 points. The Seawolves assumed control in the second period, outscoring CSUDH 25-17 in the frame to take a five-point advantage, 38-33.

CSUDH closed the gap and even the score, 47-47, with four minutes remaining in the third quarter and ended the period with a 7-0 run to take a 54-47 lead with two minutes left. The Toros held a 54-50 advantage with 10 minutes to play.

With CSUDHÂ up 57-56 with 7:30 left, the Seawolves got a basket to take the lead and didn't give it up for the rest of the game. CSUDH kept it close, but couldn't close the gap as SSU prevailed by four.

The Toros will have 10 days off before hosting UC San Diego on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 5:30 p.m.
