Toros Nearly Climb Out of 16-Point Hole at Cal State East Bay

HAYWARD - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team nearly came back from 16 points down, but in the end were defeated by Cal State East Bay by a final score of 69-63 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Thursday at Pioneer Gymnasium.
 
The Toros (4-5, 1-2 CCAA) kept it close in the opening quarter and trailed by two, 16-14, with one minute left, but the Pioneers closed out the period with a 6-1 run. CSUEB (7-2, 3-0) had a 22-15 advantage after the first 10 minutes. The Pioneers started to pull away in the second quarter and led by as much as 16 points, 44-28. The Toros went scored five unanswered to make it an 11-point game at halftime, 44-33.
 
CSUDH was on fire in the third and outscored CSUEB 19-11 in the period. The Toros cut the margin to two, 50-48, with 4:30 left in the quarter and trailed 55-52 with 10 minutes left. CSUDH kept closing the gap and made it a one-point game, 59-58, with 3:30 left on basket by senior Dijour Ledbetter. It would be the closest the Toros would get as the Pioneers pulled away and prevailed by six.
 
CSUDH will have one day off before hostin Sonoma State on Saturday, Dec. 7 at 1 p.m.
