HAYWARD - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team nearly came back from 16 points down, but in the end were defeated by Cal State East Bay by a final score of 69-63 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Thursday at Pioneer Gymnasium.

The Toros (4-5, 1-2 CCAA) kept it close in the opening quarter and trailed by two, 16-14, with one minute left, but the Pioneers closed out the period with a 6-1 run. CSUEB (7-2, 3-0) had a 22-15 advantage after the first 10 minutes. The Pioneers started to pull away in the second quarter and led by as much as 16 points, 44-28. The Toros went scored five unanswered to make it an 11-point game at halftime, 44-33.

CSUDH was on fire in the third and outscored CSUEB 19-11 in the period. The Toros cut the margin to two, 50-48, with 4:30 left in the quarter and trailed 55-52 with 10 minutes left. CSUDH kept closing the gap and made it a one-point game, 59-58, with 3:30 left on basket by senior
Dijour Ledbetter. It would be the closest the Toros would get as the Pioneers pulled away and prevailed by six.
