CARSON –
Wonder Smith scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds as the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team led the entire game to beat the NAIA's Saint Katherine 85-57 Saturday in a final tune-up before starting CCAA play.
The Toros improve to 2-2 as they now get set to open conference play against San Francisco State Thursday at 7:30 p.m.
Three others joined Smith in the double-digit column in points.
Brandon Jackson had a dozen while
Colten Kresl and
Alex Garcia each had 11.
Dominguez Hills once again continued to show domination on the glass, outrebounding the Firebirds (2-4) 47-23.

Saint Katherine kept it close during the first 10 minutes of the opening half until the Toros went on an 11-2 run in the span of five minutes to take a 22-12 lead with 7:05 left. Dominguez Hills would keep the deficit at double digits the remainder of the game, even leading by as many as 34 five minutes into the second half.
Jared Strate led the effort for the Firebirds, scoring 15 points off the bench.
