The Toros improve to 2-5-1 overall. The Banana Slugs drop to 7-2-2.

CSUDH got the first score early in the game. Sophomore
Patricia Rubio-Martinez kicked one in as the ball found her feet after a scrum inside the box in the 10th minute. UCSC responded and got a goal of its own in the 27th minute as the two teams went into halftime deadlocked, 1-1.

The second half saw 10 shots, six by the Toros and four by the Banana Slugs, but none found the back of the net as the game went into sudden-victory overtime. CSUDH dominated overtime with a 10-1 shot advantage in just under 18 minutes. The Toros finally broke through with 2:48 on the clock in the second extra period.

"It was a great win for the CSUDH women's soccer program," said head coach
Marine Cano. "This team has faced adversity all year with injuries and they all played with energy and fire today. They were not going to take 'no' for an answer. We're on to Cal State LA on Wednesday."
