Toros’s Five-Game Win Streak Snapped by No. 14 Tritons

CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team's five-game win streak was snapped by No. 14 UC San Diego, as the Toros fell by a final score of 82-52 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Saturday at the Torodome. The Tritons improve to 13-3 overall and 8-1 in conference play. The Toros drop to 7-5 overall and 5-2 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- CSUDH couldn't get anything going offensively and trailed the Tritons 18-2 to start the game. The Toros briefly cut the margin to 10 points, 29-19, on a David Howard 3-pointer with 6:45 remaining in the period. However, UCSD would stretch the margin to 46-19, its biggest of the half, with one minute left. CSUDH trailed 46-21 at halftime, with 10 points coming from David Howard.
- The Toros did much better offensively in the second half, putting up 31 points, but it wasn't enough. The Tritons kept their onslaught going for the final 20 minutes and ended up prevailing by 30 points.
 
TORO NOTES
- The Toros had their lowest offensive output of the year with 52 points. They shot 32.8 percent (21-64) from the field, by far their lowest field goal percentage of the season.
 
UPCOMING
The Toros leave Southern California to play at Chico State Thursday and Humboldt State Saturday. Both are 7:30 p.m. tipoffs.
