Toros Overcome 14-Point Deficit to Force OT, Edged by Lumberjacks in Extra Period

ARCATA - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team climbed out of a 14-point hole in regulation to force overtime, but ultimately fell to Humboldt State by a final score of 73-63, in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Saturday at Lumberjack Arena. The Toros went on a 13-0 run in the final 5:30 of regulation to force the extra period. CSUDH drops to 7-8 overall and 3-6 in conference play. HSU improves to 7-5 overall and 6-4 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros got off to a slow start and trailed 21-9 at the end of the first 10 minutes.
- The Lumberjacks stretched the margin to 14 on two different occasions in the second quarter before CSUDH closed it to 10 points, 28-18, at halftime. Both teams struggled offensively in the period with a combined 16 points.
- The Toros cut the deficit to six points, twice, before HSU pulled away once more and took a 14-point advantage, 46-32, with 4:44 left in the third. CSUDH trailed by double digits, 50-40, heading into the final quarter of regulation.
- With 5:30 left and the Lumberjacks leading 58-45, the Toros scored 13 unanswered points to force overtime. CSUDH made three consecutive 3-pointers, two from Bell and one from Williams, and two layups, one each from Bell and Morrow. Dijour Ledbetter's game-winning 3-point attempt at the buzzer rimmed out.
- The Toros struggled in overtime as the Lumberjacks pulled away and ultimately prevailed by 10.
