Toros Chomped by Gators in Four Sets to Open CCAA Play

SAN FRANCISCO – Cathryn Lopez made 18 digs, Jordan Ramirez had 34 assists and Rylee Brown had 15 kills as the Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team fell to San Francisco State in four sets (25-20, 17-25, 20-25, 22-25) in the California Collegiate Athletic Association opener Friday.

Cathryn Lopez – 18 digs, 4 assists, 2 service aces
Jordan Ramirez – 34 assists, 9 digs, 2 kills
Rylee Brown – 15 kills, 5 digs
 
WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros had their best performance in the first set, hitting .355 on the attack.
- San Francisco State kept pace with Dominguez Hills for a majority up until a four-point run gave the Toros a 20-15 lead en route to the opening set win.
- CSUDH had struggled on the attack in the other three games, hitting until .200 in all of them. The Gators, meanwhile hit .261 or higher in all four rounds.
- Errors also hurt the Toros in the match, making 41 different mistakes including 24 errors.
- Neither team led by more than two points in the fourth game.
 
POST-MATCH NOTES
- Tati Yandall finished with 13 kills and 12 digs for her 16th career double-double.
- Cathryn Lopez came up two digs short from matching her season high.
 
WHO'S NEXT?
The Toros will cross the San Mateo Bridge to play Cal State East Bay Saturday at 7 p.m., ending what has been a season-opening nine-match road trip.
