Esther Duru recorded 14 careers to set a new personal best at Cal State Dominguez Hills, but it wasn't enough as the Toros came up short from clinching set wins in their loss to Cal State San Marcos (21-25, 21-25, 19-25) at The Sports Center Tuesday evening.
The Toros fall to 5-8 overall, 0-5 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Toros had to dig themselves out of a hole in the first set, falling behind 9-3. They managed to within one (22-21) but the Cougars got two kills and capitalized on an error to win the set.
- Dominguez Hills' best chance was in the third game, when it took a 9-3 lead, the largest in the match.
- The Toros ended the first set hitting .093 but improved that number to .169 at the end of the match. Dominguez Hills did lead the dig column for a majority of the match and finished with 53.
WHO'S NEXT?
The Toros return to the Torodome for the weekend, beginning with Cal Poly Pomona Friday at 7 p.m. followed by Cal State San Bernardino at 5 p.m. The match against the Coyotes was initially set for 7 p.m. but both universities agreed to move the match to avoid an overlap with the LA Galaxy's match at the StubHub! Center at that time.
