CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team was on the path of pulling an upset victory over No. 25 Cal Poly Pomona, but the Toros couldn't force a deciding set in their 3-1 loss (18-25, 25-16, 17-25, 20-25) to the Broncos at the Torodome Friday.
The Toros fall to 5-9 overall, 0-6 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Dominguez Hills couldn't quite stop Pomona on the attack in the first game as the Broncos hit .407 in the opener. The difference in the game came on an 8-1 momentum that gave the Broncos an 11-6 lead.
- The Toros got their first set win in conference play with the help of five kills from
Tati Yandall and 14 total errors by Pomona. After the two teams tied the game at six, the Toros went on to score 13 of the next 15 points to take a commanding 10-point lead.
- Pomona responded to the bad second-set defeat and opened the third with a 10-3 start. The Toros couldn't quite find any solid momentum in the game, hitting .033 on the attack.
- Dominguez Hills did hang around with Pomona in the fourth game as neither side led by more than three points for a majority of it. Tied at 17, the Broncos got into a rhythm in which they scored 6-of-7 points to set the tone of the game.

It doesn't get any easier for the Toros as they play host to No. 2 Cal State San Bernardino Saturday.
