CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team came close on two occasions to clinch a set win against crosstown rivals Cal State LA, but the 22
nd-ranked Golden Eagles snuck away in the second and third games to beat the Toros in three (17-25, 29-31, 22-25) at the Torodome Saturday.
The Toros drop to 5-6 overall, 0-3 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- The Golden Eagles, who came to Carson with a perfect record, capitalized on a 7-2 point run early in the first game to set the tone of the set.
- Dominguez Hills got off to a promising start with a 4-0 lead into the second round. Los Angeles eventually caught up and played teeter-totter with the Toros deep into the set. Although CSUDH had game-point opportunities twice, CSULA had three chances.
- Trailing 22-17 in the third set, CSUDH eventually made sideout and took advantage on an attacking error, a service ace by
Jordan Ramirez and a block by
Cecelia Lucas and
Taylor Benitez-Fanslow to make it a one-point deficit.
- The Toros saw 126 attack attempts come at them, making 48 stops while seeing the Golden Eagles miss their target 18 times.
