SAN MARCOS – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team got off to a promising start to the 2018 campaign against Lewis Friday, having nearing taken the first game in extras and battled in the second set. But the sixth-ranked Flyers claimed all three rounds (38-40, 16-25, 16-25) at Cal State San Marcos' Cougar Classic Friday.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Despite the Toros getting 43 kills out of 152 total attempts, they couldn't quite break the Flyers defense as 82 of those attacks were stopped.

Rylee Brown combined for 25 kills to lead Dominguez Hills in that column.
- The opening set turned out to be the best for the Toros on the day. Neither team trailed by more than three points. While Brown racked up five kills deep into the first set, the Toros had game-point on seven different occasions but couldn't seal the win.
- Despite the 40-38 result in the first game, the Toros did out-hit the Flyers 27 percent to 23.
