Glenn Baral added 17 but the eight-seeded Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team made too many mistakes that resulted a 73-60 loss to top-seed Cal Poly Pomona in the quarterfinal of the California Collegiate Athletic Association Tuesday night.
The Toros season comes to an end at 13-17 overall and 10-12 in the CCAA.
Freshman
Malcolm Johnson had 13 points and led all Toros with eight rebounds.
Deondre Otis grabbed six rebounds and made two rebounds and steals each.
Although Dominguez Hills committed 13 turnovers, some of them proved to be costly as the Broncos (22-5) got 20 points off of it.
The Toros overall shot 39.6 percent from the field but did get nine 3-pointers.
The Toros had a 5-point lead on two different occasions within the first 5:30. But it wasn't until the Broncos responded and took advantage of five Toro turnovers to go on a 15-1 run and take a 21-12 lead halfway through the half.
Five different Dominguez Hills players contributed to 12 points within the final five minutes to trail the Broncos 33-27 at the half.
The Toros committed seven turnovers in the first half, to which the Broncos got 10 points off those mistakes.
Cal Poly Pomona outscored the Toros 40-33 in the second half.
