Fourth Quarter Haunts Toros in Loss to Golden Eagles

LOS ANGELES - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team was outscored 26-18 in the last 10 minutes and fell to Cal State LA by a final score of 75-65 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Wednesday at University Gymnasium. The Toros suffer their first loss in conference action and drop to 2-1 in the CCAA and are now 6-3 overall. The Golden Eagles improve to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in league play.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- CSUDH led 21-17 after the first 10 minutes thanks to five 3-pointers. Eight of the Toros' 21 points in the period came from Jasmine Phoolka on two treys and two makes from the charity stripe.
- The Golden Eagles began the second quarter on a 16-2 run to grab a 10-point lead, 33-23, with 5:18 left before the intermission. CSUDH responded with a 10-2 run of their own, capped off by an Ahlisha Henderson layup, to cut it to two. The Toros went into halftime down 37-33.
- The two teams traded baskets for much of the third quarter. Nautica Morrow and Destinee Williams accounted for all of the points in the period as CSUDH trailed by two, 49-47, going into the final 10 minutes.
- CSULA began the fourth quarter with a 17-6 run to grab their biggest lead of the game, 66-53. The Toros ultimately cut it to 10 points, but the gap was insurmountable as the Golden Eagles prevailed.
