Anderson’s 22 Points Lifts Toros to 70-48 Win Over Otters

SEASIDE - Led by a season-high 22 points from freshman guard Lea Anderson, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team defeated Cal State Monterey Bay by a final score of 70-48 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Saturday afternoon at The Kelp Bed. The Toros improve to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play. The Otters remain winless at 0-7 overall and 0-4 in the CCAA.

WHAT HAPPENED?
- Down 10-7 early, CSUDH closed out the opening quarter with 14 unanswered points, eight coming from Lea Anderson, to lead 21-10 at the end of 10 minutes.
- Two free throws from Allissa Gomez stretched the Toro lead to 13 points, 23-10. The Otters then went on a 14-4 run to close within 3-points, 27-24. CSUDH responded and took an eight-point advantage at halftime, 36-28.
- The Toros outscored CSUMB 12-8 in the third period to take a 48-36 lead into the final 10 minutes.
- CSUDH kept the offensive onslaught going in the fourth quarter and grabbed its advantage of the contest, 68-45, on a layup from Alzena Henry with less than two minutes remaining. The Toros ultimately prevailed by 22 points.
