CARSON -- An early goal was not enough as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team suffered a 3-1 loss to Concordia Irvine in non-conference action, Friday at Toro Stadium.
Â
The Toros remain winless at 0-3 on the season. The Eagles win their first of the season and improve to a 1-2-1 record.
Â
CSUDH got on the board in the seventh minute. Senior midfielder
Dana Dibble kicked a perfect long ball to fellow senior
Louise Kallin who got behind the CUI defenders. Kallin used a dribble move to get past the goalie and found the back of the net for the first Toro goal of the season.
Â
The Eagles found the equalizer 18 minutes later as Carmany Jones rocked one from 35-yards out to the left side of the goal. CUI took the lead only two minutes into the second half as Cienah Reed's cross found Kryssa Johnson for the score. Brianna Meyer put the finishing touches for the Eagles in the 80th minute as CSUDH fell by two goals.
Â
Toro goalie
Ruth-Maria Soto compiled six saves.
Â
CSUDH will open conference play at Cal Poly Pomona on Friday, Sept. 15. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m.Â
