CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team salvaged game three against soon-to-be NCAA Division I and No. 7 California Baptist, but the Toros couldn't force a deciding set in their loss (22-25, 13-25, 30-28, 16-25) to the Lancers at the Torodome Tuesday night.
Two Toros had double-doubles on the night.
Tati Yandall recorded 16 kills and 14 digs for her third in four matches while freshman
Jordan Ramirez made 10 assists and defensive saves each for her first career.
Claire Autry had 10 kills,
Cathryn Lopez made 17 digs and
Rylee Kiger set for 28 assists.
Dominguez Hills finished the night with a .056 attack percentage while the Lancers compiled a .186. Lauren Hackett made 21 kills while Madison and McKenna Witt both made 11.
After being dominated in the second set to fall behind 2-0 in the match, the Toros made a valiant effort to sneak away with a game three win. With match point on the line,
Esther Duru got an important kill that evened the game at 25 points. Each team had at least two chances to claim the set but it was back-to-back kills by Yandall that proved to be the difference in the Toros 30-28 win.
The Toros hit .140 in the third set win.
The Toros (5-7) finish the non-conference schedule 4-5. They will now finish the season in CCAA play starting Friday at home against Humboldt State. First serve is at 7 p.m.
