Loe, Reveles Homer Twice in Softball's Doubleheader Loss to Coyotes

SAN BERNARDINO – Jade Loe and Lyzette Reveles both each hit two of six Cal State Dominguez Hills' home runs in Saturday's softball twinbill with Cal State Bernardino. Despite the homers, the Coyotes ended the day taking both games, 9-1 in game one in six innings and 9-8 in game two, to sweep the CCAA series.
 
Game 1 – CSUSB 9, CSUDH 1 (6 Innings)
The Coyotes (27-15, 17-11 CCAA) took an early 6-0 lead tallying two runs in the first inning and four in the second.
 
Reveles put a run on the scoreboard with her team-leading fifth home run to right center to lead off the third inning.
 
The Toros (6-37, 4-28 CCAA) saw runners on base in the fourth and fifth innings but were unable to push any more runs across. San Bernardino added three more runs in the fifth for a 9-1 lead and put the run-rule into effect to end the game. 
 
Analisa Nicholson, Jessica Lane and Reveles recorded one hit each. Damari Simon, Kayla Lock and Reveles were all issued one walk.
 
Kiara Mendoza recorded the loss after tossing two complete innings and Sharie Albert pitched the remaining three and two thirds innings.
 
Game 2 – CSUDH 9, CSUSB 8
Dominguez Hills jumped on the scoreboard first when Simon knocked a solo home run to center field in the first inning.
 
San Bernardino immediately answered back in the bottom half of the frame with four runs, three courtesy of Caitlyn Olan's jack to left field for a 4-1 lead.
 
Jade Loe led off the second with a home run to right center to reduce the deficit by one but CSUSB was able to get the run back in the third inning to increase the lead 5-2.
 
Loe blasted another homer in the fifth, this time with a three-run shot to right field to tie the game 5-5 and forced a pitching change for the Coyotes.
 
Alexis Pintado reached base on a drop third strike and Lane singled to third base to set up Reveles's second homer of the day and the first Toro lead of the series 8-5 in the sixth inning.
 
Jessica Brown's grand slam in the bottom of the frame allowed the Coytoes to retake the lead 9-8.
 
Kendelle Messersmith, Lock, Pintado and Lane had one hit each while Reveles, Simon and Loe tallied two apiece.
 
Albert tossed her eighth complete game of the season and recorded the loss for the Toros.
 
The Cardinal and Gold returns home Thursday hosting No. 20 Cal Baptist with game one set for 1 p.m.
