Reveles Homers to Open Series with Cal State San Bernardino; Coyotes Take Two

SAN BERNARDINO – The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team dropped a pair to Cal State San Bernardino Friday afternoon, 11-1 in game one and 8-0 in game two, both in five innings.

Game 1 – CSUDH 1, CSUSB 11 (5 Innings)
Lyzette Reveles led off the game with a homerun to left field but it would be the only Toro run for the day.

CSUDH (6-35, 4-26 CCAA) was able to get the first hitter on base in innings two through four as Kayla Lock, Reveles and Jade Loe all recorded singles.

Damari Simon tallied a team-leading 24th walk of the season and Alexis Pintado laid down her first career sacrifice bunt for the Toros.

San Bernardino (25-15, 15-11 CCAA) used two doubles, two singles, one homerun, a Toro error, and a wild pitch to take the lead 5-1 in the bottom of the first. Back-to-back solo homeruns and a bases-loaded two-run single increased the lead to 9-1 in the second inning. The last two runs were added in the fourth.

Sharie Albert threw one and two third innings and Alyssa Valinches tossed the remaining two and one third innings.

Game 2 – CSUDH 0, CSUSB 8 (5 Innings)
Reveles was hit by the pitch for the fourth time this season to lead off the game and advanced to second on Kendelle Messersmith's sacrifice bunt but was left stranded as the Toros weren't able to get the run across home plate.

The Coyotes took a 5-0 lead in the bottom of the first using five hits and added two runs in the second and one in the third.

Pintado, Analisa Nicholson and Loe recorded one hit each for Dominguez Hills.

Valinches tossed one inning and Kiara Mendoza finished the remaining three.

The series concludes Saturday with game one set for 12 p.m.
