CARSON — John Soteropulos drove in three runs, including a two-run shot in the sixth, but the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team fell to Point Loma 10-4 Tuesday in the non-conference schedule finale.
The Sea Lions struck early with a four-run lead in the first but the difference in the game came in the second inning, when they got back-to-back leadoff singles that eventually set up for a sacrifice fly and a RBI single.
CSUDH's first run of the game came the following inning. Adrian Guzman led off with a double down the left field line and reached home on two consecutive groundouts.
The lead did cut in half in the sixth after Daryl Donerson singled and scored on Soteropulos' shot to center field.
Point Loma Nazarene ran away with the win by scoring two runs each in the eighth and ninth innings.
The Toros sent six pitchers in the mound but altogether conceded 14 hits and eight walks. The Sea Lions also used four pitches as starter Kevin Lillicrop lasted only three innings.
Both teams were making up this game as rain postponed the scheduled four-game series at Toro Field in February.
With two weeks left in the regular-season, the Toros will head to San Francisco State to play a three-game set with the Gators. The twinbill Saturday begins at noon.
