Another Offensive Day Gives Toros Game Two Win Over Cal State San Marcos

SAN MARCOS – The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team put together another offensive barrage as the Toros tallied 17 hits to outscore Cal State San Marcos 15-13 in game two of a four-game series Friday afternoon.

The Cougars, meanwhile, had a 14-hit day.

A five-run ninth proved to be the difference for the Toros as the Cougars attempted a comeback in their half of the inning, scoring the same amount of runs.

John Soteropulos and Daryl Donerson both had three RBI on the day with Soteropulos hitting a two-run homer in the ninth.

The Toros had never trailed in the game, scoring four runs in the first, three in the second and two more in the third to take a 9-4 lead.

Both teams had turned over to the bullpen very early.

Nick Suniga lasted only 1.1 innings on the mound, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks. Jacob Musial took over in the second and gave up three earned runs in 6.2 innings of work.

Shawn Hunt got knocked out of the game recording one out and conceding the four runs on 32 pitches. Much like Musial, Andy Garretson threw 6.2 but allowed six runs across.

The series now shifts to Toro Field Saturday in a doubleheader (9/7 inning). Game one is set for noon first pitch.
