Toros Bats Go Quiet in Series Opening Loss to No. 8 Lancers

RIVERSIDE – The Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team's bats had gone quiet against No. 8 Cal Baptist's Garett King as the Lancers opened a three-game non-conference series with a 6-1 win over the Toros Thursday evening.
 
The Toros (2-3) had only three hits against King (1-1), two came from Brandon Polizzi and the other was Parker Hokuf's solo shot in the second inning.
 
King was pretty much unstoppable against the Toros, fanning a dozen while not issuing a walk.
 
Although Toro starter Nick Suniga (0-1) surrendered the first two runs of the game in the opening inning, he settled down and threw scoreless innings until the seventh, when the Lancers (1-3) plated four runs to take the 6-1 lead.
 
Suniga struck out five and walked three on 100 pitches before handing the ball over to the bullpen.
 
With rain on Friday's forecast, the two ballclubs decided to play it safe and move the Toros home opener to Monday at 2 p.m. The Toros do return to Riverside for game two Saturday at noon.
