Too Many Turnovers Hurt Toros in Loss to Jacks

ARCATA – Jocelyne Diaz and Simone Thompson both scored 16 points, Destinee Williams added 13 but the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team made too many mistakes and Humboldt State capitalized on the them to defeat the Toros 70-57 Saturday.
 
Despite shooting 42.9 percent and outrebounding the Humboldt State 35-30, the Toros conceded 21 turnovers and the Jacks put 31 points on the board from it.
 
Williams had also came up a rebound short from a double-double. Thompson also had a productive night defensively, earning five steals.
 
Tyra Turner, who scored 25 points at the Torodome last month, finished Saturday night dropping 20 which included a perfect 7-for-7 on the free throw line.
 
Humboldt State had led the entire game until the five-minute mark in the third quarter, when Thompson's layup put the Toros ahead 34-33.
 
The fourth quarter, though, turned into a disaster for the Toros, as the Jacks went on to outscore them 24-12.
 
CSUDH returns to the Torodome to take on UC San Diego Thursday at 5:30 p.m. The Tritons dominated the Toros in RIMAC Arena before entering Christmas Break.
