LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team had runners on base in every inning but was unable to push more runs across in a 11-3 season-opening loss to Minot State at the Desert Stinger Friday afternoon.

The Beavers worked quickly and found themselves with a 7-0 lead after two innings.

Kendelle Messersmith scored the Toros first run of the 2017 season in the fourth and Lyzette Reveles added the second run off a bases loaded walk to send Messersmith home in the fifth.

Senior Madison Murphy homered to left center in the top of the sixth to pick up the third run for CSUDH.

The Toros fought the whole game earning six free bases and collecting seven hits. Rachel Sandoval had two of the Toros seven hits while Jade Loe, Lyzette Reveles, Analisa Nicholson and Damari Simon each added one hit.

The Cardinal and Gold continues the Desert Stinger tomorrow against Central Washington at 11:30 a.m. and Concordia (CA) at 2 p.m.
