Women's Basketball Runs Out of Time to Complete Rally in Loss to Gators

SAN FRANCISCO – Simone Thompson scored 24 points to match her career-high but the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team ran out of time to recover from a 21-point deficit midway through the fourth quarter in its 73-68 loss to host San Francisco State Friday night.
 
The Gators (3-21, 1-16 CCAA) got their first win in conference of the season highlighting a 21-6 run in the second half that proved to be the difference in the game. Thompson did get the Toros (6-18, 3-14 CCAA) back to within five at the buzzer scoring 14 points during a 26-10 momentum within the final six minutes.
 
The Toros, who finished with a 43-shooting percentage, saw only two others reach double figures. Destinee Williams dropped 16 points and Lisa Rhett had 10.
 
DiJour Ledbetter had seven of CSUDH's 35 rebounds.
 
It was a big night for Gator forward Donae Moguel, who tallied 20 points and 15 rebounds. Jasmine Black led the team with 22 points to lead the team.
 
CSUDH had a one-point on two different occasions in the first half. The Gators went into intermission leading 29-23.
 
The Toros will cross the Golden Gate Bridge Saturday to play Sonoma State at 5:30 p.m. The Seawolves crushed the Toros, 62-38, in Carson last month.
