Warriors Hit Their Way to Two Wins Over Softball on Think Pink Day

CARSON – The home opener twinbill didn't go as it hoped for the Cal State Dominguez Hills softball team as Stanislaus State slugged its way to both wins at Toro Diamond 15-2 in game one, 9-1 in the evening cap, Saturday.

Game 1 – Stanislaus State 15, CSUDH 2
Stanislaus State's pitching proved to be too much for the Toros as the Warriors limited the home team to only four hits. CSUDH broke through in the second inning cut into the lead to 2-1 off of Kendelle Messersmith's RBI double and eventually tied the game in the fourth behind a Kayla Lock RBI single.

Stanislaus State took control behind a slew of singles, never looking back ending the game 15-2.

The Toros were held at bay, only gathering four hits never really able to cash in on potential runs on the base path.

Game 2 - Stanislaus State 9, CSUDH 1
Sharie Albert looked to carry the Toros into the second game by showcasing excellent starting pitching, but was eventually out-dueled by the Warriors' Borst, to fall 1-9.

Albert pitched through four complete innings before surrendering an earned run.

Toro freshman Jade Loe scored on an illegal pitch in the fourth to momentarily tie the game at one apiece, but a double followed by two singles was all that was needed to put the Warriors ahead 5-1 in the fifth in which they never looking back.  When the Toros looked to the bullpen, Loe answered the call with only allowing two hits. Senior Madison Murphy had two of the Toros four hits.

The Toros and Warriors meet two more times at Toro Diamond Sunday with game one set for 11 a.m.
