SAN DIEGO - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team fell to California Baptist by a final score of 84-59 on the first day of the Point Loma Thanksgiving Classic, Friday at Golden Gymnasium.
The Toros drop to 3-3 with the loss. The Lancers improve to 2-4 overall on the year.
Nautica Morrow and Heaven Holmes led CSUDH with 17 and 13 points, respectively. Morrow added five rebounds and three assists. Taylor Farris finished with a game-high 10 rebounds.
The Toros started slow and trailed by 11 points, 25-14, at the end of the first quarter. CSUDH responded with a 19-3 run, capped off by a Katelyn Cole jumper, to start the second period and grabbed a 33-28 lead. With the Toros up by three, CBU closed out the second quarter with seven unanswered points for a 38-34 advantage at halftime.
The Lancers pulled away in the third quarter, outscoring CSUDH 26-13 in the period. CBU kept the onslaught going in the final 10 minutes and ultimately prevailed by 25 points.
The Toros will stay in San Diego to face Point Loma on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m.
