CARSON - The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team battled back from a 12-point deficit in the first quarter and defeated Hope International 92-75 in a non-conference matchup, Tuesday at the Torodome.

The Toros improve to 3-2 on the year with the win. The Royals counted the contest as an exhibition. HIU came in and walks away with an undefeated 6-0 record.

Heaven Holmes and Nautica Morrow led CSUDH with 21 points. Taylor Farris grabbed her second double-double of the season with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

The Toros started off slow and found themselves down 12 points, 16-4, in the middle of the first quarter. CSUDH ended the period on a 20-5 run for a three-point advantage, 24-21. In a mostly even second quarter, the Toros outscored HIU 19-17 for a 43-38 lead at halftime.

CSUDH started to pull away in the second half and led by as much as 24 points, twice. The margin would be insurmountable for the Royals as the Toros prevailed by 17.

CSUDH will travel to the Point Loma Thanksgiving Classic for its next two games. The Toros will play California Baptist on Friday, Nov. 24 at 12 p.m. and Point Loma on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m.Â
