CARSON -- Dijour Ledbetter drew a foul with one second remaining and made a free throw as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team defeated defending conference tournament champion Cal State East Bay in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup by a final score of 80-79, Friday at the Torodome.

The Toros start off conference play with a 1-0 record and improve to 1-2 overall. The Pioneers drop to 0-1 in the CCAA and are 2-2 overall.

Nautica Morrow scored a team-high 22 points. Taylor Farris recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, including four on the offensive end.

Neither team could gain a clear advantage in the first half. The two squads were even at the end of the first quarter at 16-16. CSUDH led by one at halftime, 36-35, after Farris nailed a jumper with the clock winding down.

The third quarter belonged to the Toros as they outscored CSUEB 27-16 in the period for a 63-51 lead. CSUDH led by as much as 15 points, twice, in the fourth quarter, but a 20-5 Pioneer run evened the score, 75-75, with 2:37 remaining.

With the game even at 79-79, Ledbetter was able to draw a foul on the Pioneers' Bri Guillory and was sent to the charity stripe with 1.2 seconds left. Ledbetter missed her first, but sank her second opportunity to give the Toros a one-point edge. CSUEB was unable to get a shot off in the ensuing possession as CSUDH prevailed.
