AZUSA – Heaven Holmes scored 17 points, Nautica Morrow added 11 but it was a cold-shooting afternoon for the Cal State Dominguez Hills as it dropped a 65-54 decision to PacWest Conference co-favorite No. 16 Azusa Pacific Saturday afternoon.
The Toros shot 21.7 percent from the field and made only two 3-point baskets. Even though they shot 37.7 percent, the Cougars (5-0) had a rough day taking care of the basketball, forcing 21 turnovers. Dominguez Hills took advantage of those turnovers by producing 15 points off it.
Also leading the effort for the Toros were Taylor Farris, who scored nine points, grabbed seven rebounds and caused four steals. Desiree Harding had eight boards and three assists and steals each.
The Toros had never led in the game.
