CSUDH Win Streak at Three With 2-0 Decision Over Otters

SEASIDE -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team defeated Cal State Monterey Bay 2-0 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup, Sunday at the Otter Sports Complex.

The Toros have now won three straight and improve to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in conference play. The Otters drop to 4-6-3 overall and 2-5-1 in the CCAA.

It didn't take long for CSUDH to take the lead. The Toros were able to draw a foul on CSUMB inside the box in the fourth minute. After a goalkeeper violation was called on the ensuing penalty kick, CSUDH was awarded another shot from 12-yards out. Senior defender Anju Takei slotted home the second chance penalty kick and the Toros took a 1-0 lead.

In the 80th minute, senior midfielder Dana Dibble found freshman defender Bella Amezcua on the top right-side of the box. Amezcua then rifled a shot into the top left corner out of the reach of the CSUMB goalie to account for the final score.

CSUDH earned its third straight shutout as freshman goalie Ruth-Maria Soto compiled two saves on four shots faced.

The Toros will host Cal State LA on Wednesday, Oct. 11 at 4:30 p.m. for Think Pink Night.
