HAYWARD -- Cal State East Bay had no answer for the firepower of Cal State Dominguez Hills as the Toros prevailed 3-0 in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) men's soccer matchup, Friday at Pioneer Stadium.
The Toros improve to 4-1 in conference play and 7-3-1 overall. The Pioneers remain winless in the CCAA at 0-7 and are 2-9-1 overall.
Senior goalkeeper
Chase Gentry recorded his second straight shutout, fifth of the season, with five saves.
In the 11th minute, junior forward
Juan Hernandez found the left corner of the net from the right side after the ball popped out of the box. It was his team-leading fifth goal of the season. The assist went to
Angel Ayala.
CSUEB was called for a foul inside the box in the 41st minute and freshman
Kian Meyer converted the ensuing penalty kick as the Toros went into halftime with a two-score advantage.
CSUDH sealed the deal in the 83rd minute as
Tommie Hession-Harris received a pass from
Manuel Paez at the top of the box and found the right-side of the net.
The Toros will have a day off before taking on Cal State Monterey Bay in a road matchup, Sunday, Oct. 8 at 2 p.m.
