Toros Come Back From 2-0 Deficit to Earn Draw Against No. 19 Seawolves

ARCATA -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team climbed out of a 2-0 hole and earned a 2-2 double overtime draw in a California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) matchup against No. 19 Sonoma State, Sunday at College Creek Field.

The Toros are 4-8-2 overall and 3-5-1 in conference play. The Seawolves are 12-2-1 overall and 6-2-1 in the CCAA.

The Seawolves took a 2-0 lead in the first half. The first goal was scored in the fourth minute by Sam Layman and the second in the 25th minute by an own goal. Just before halftime at 42:39, Katrina Cohen assisted Dana Dibble on a shot that went past the diving SSU goalkeeper as the Toros cut the deficit to one.

CSUDH equalized in the 71st minute. Sophia Litendahl's long pass into the box found the head of Louise Kallin and into the net.

The Toros had two golden-goal opportunities in overtime by Miori Freeman and Litendahl, but both shots were saved by SSU goalie Kristen Spear.

CSUDH goalie Ruth-Maria Soto finished the contest with 11 saves.

The Toros will close out the regular season hosting Chico State on Thursday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. and Stanislaus State on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 2 p.m. for Senior Day.
