Tati Yandall recorded 18 kills and 20 digs for her eighth double-double of the season as the Cal State Dominguez Hills volleyball team took a four-set (25-23, 17-25, 25-19, 25-21) win at Cal State East Bay Saturday to complete a 3-1 road trip.
The Toros have won three consecutive contests and four of their last five to get their overall record back to .500 after 20 matches played. CSUDH also improves to 6-5 in the CCAA and keeps themselves on pace with Cal State LA for fourth place in the tough South Division with six matches remaining.
Yandall wasn't the only one to reach double digits in two statistical columns.
Hailey Smith made season-highs of 12 kills and 17 digs,
Rylee Kiger handed 29 assists and made 10 saves for her seventh double-double.
Coming off a career night at Cal State Monterey Bay Friday,
Jordan Ramirez earned 20 assists to be two away from her personal mark.
The Pioneers (13-8, 6-6 CCAA) beat the Toros in the attack percentage with a .263. Their top offensive player, Kiki Leuteneker, made 13 kills and committed two errors for a .314 hit percentage.
Despite hitting .280 in the first set, the Toros started had to rally from behind using a 9-2 run to take a 19-17 lead. Smith got game-winning point with a kill setup by
Cathryn Lopez.
East Bay took the second game behind a .342 hit percentage but Dominguez Hills led the third game from start to finish.
The Toros had to play catch-up in the fourth game after falling behind 8-3 from the start. CSUDH would go on an 8-1 thanks to seven kills and an ace to take a 19-15 lead. The Toros had not looked back from that point on.
CSUDH returns home to play Sonoma State Friday and San Francisco State (Think Pink Night) Saturday. First serve for both matches are at 7 p.m.
