Clarissa Chavez scored her third goal of the season early in the second half,
Elisa Martin made six saves but it wasn't enough as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to San Francisco State at the StubHub Center Friday evening.
The Toros see their three-match win streak snapped and fell to 3-7-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association.
Dominguez Hills combined for 10 total shots on the night with half of them on goal.
America Quintana and
Dana Dibble each had two shots.
The Gators (8-3-1, 3-2-1 CCAA) put up 19 shots on the board. They got their first goal on a penalty kick in the 16
th minute while the difference in the match came two minutes later. Monique Ponce broke away and slotted it into the goal from the right side. The Gators insurance goal was in the 29
th minute.
Chavez's goal came two minutes into the second half.
Moa Eriksson made a pass to Chavez and the senior beat the keeper by going to the right side.
The Toros head back to Northern California for a pair of matches to Humboldt State Friday (12:30 p.m.) and Sonoma State Sunday (2 p.m.). With the devastating fires happening in California's wine country, stay tuned if the matches will be postponed or moved.
