Simone Thompson sets a career and game-high after a stellar night from behind the arc having made 8-of-9 3-pointers in the women's basketball team's 79-65 loss to Humboldt State Saturday.
Cal State Dominguez Hills (4-9, 1-5) controlled the first half for all but 45 seconds, building a 12-point lead in the first quarter along with shooting 70.4 percent from the field compared to Humboldt State's (4-11, 3-5) 35.9.
The Jacks tied the game up early in the fourth quarter, 60-60, and took the lead from there going on a 25-5 run to end the game.
Thompson also hit a personal best 24 points on the night to lead the Toros.
Jocelyne Diaz followed with 15 points and six rebounds.
Dijour Ledbetter and
Imari Brown each added nine points.
Yasmine Tweedy led in the boards category with nine, both a career and game-high for the junior.
It was also a night for two additional Toros to make their debuts:
Breanna DuBois and
Liz Sulaiman. DuBois grabbed four rebounds and Sulaiman went 2-for-2 on free throws.
HSU was led by Tyra Turner's 25 points and received help from both Catharine Rees and Kindall Murie with 20 points each.
CSUDH travels to Stanislaus State next Friday with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m. The Warriors took the first game from the Toros 65-53 at the Torodome in the CCAA season opener last month.
