CARSON – Senior tandem
Justin Sadler and
Vincent Golson both scored 11 points but the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's basketball team was unable to build any kind of run in the second half as Sonoma State ran away to a 70-55 win over the Toros Thursday night.
It was indeed a cold night in the Torodome as the Cardinal and Gold only shot 39.5 percent from the field. Sonoma State, on the other hand, shot 54.8 percent while making 19 free throws.
The Toros opened up scoring the first seven points of the game just over two minutes in. The momentum completely shifted over to the Seawolves after they went on a 19-5 run to take a 19-12 lead with 6:12 left in the half.
CSUDH went into the locker room trailing Sonoma State 28-22.
The Toros kept the deficit to under nine points within the first four minutes of the second half. Sonoma State, however, started to run away by scoring 10 straight to take a 43-28 lead with 13:45 remaining.
Sonoma State had also kept CSUDH from starting any momentum since then. The Toros only had back-to-back buckets from Sadler for the only run the rest of period.
The Toros will have Friday off to prepare for a rematch with crosstown rival Cal State LA Saturday at 7:30 p.m. The Golden Eagles blew away the Toros, 86-60, at their 'Nest' back in November.
