Another Big Night From Thompson Brings Toros Back to Winning Column

CARSON – Despite a game-opening 8-0 run by Cal State Monterey Bay, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team would fight back to a 70-60 victory Friday night.
 
The Toros (5-11, 2-7 CCAA) took control of the game following a Jocelyne Diaz bucket with 6:35 remaining in the second quarter and closed out the first half leading 34-29.
 
CSUMB (4-13, 1-9 CCAA) threatened the Toros lead halfway through the fourth quarter after they pulled within one point, trailing 50-51.
 
Simone Thompson, who finished the night with 22 points, sank one of six 3-pointers with 4:34 left on the clock to give the Toros a lead of 61-51.
 
Dijour Ledbetter had 13 points and seven rebounds, Imari Brown scored 11 points, Breanna DuBois contributed 10 points, seven boards and one block, and Diaz finished with nine points and six rebounds for the cardinal and gold.
 
McKenna Hill and Aubri Smith both scored 12 points and Courtney Keaton added 10 points for the visiting Otters.
 
CSUDH continues their home stand Saturday night, hosting Cal State East Bay. Opening tip is set for 5:30 p.m.
