Chica's Two Goals Give Men's Soccer Come-From-Behind Win Over Crusaders

NAMPA, Idaho -- Joey Chica erased a one-goal deficit with the benefit of a penalty kick and scored the match winner six minutes later to lift Cal State Dominguez Hills to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over host Northwest Nazarene to earn the first win of the season Thursday.

The Toros (1-1-1) will have an off-day Friday in Nampa to prepare for a neutral site contest against Hawai`i at Hilo Saturday. Kickoff is at 11 a.m. PDT.

CSUDH found itself trailing 1-0 eight minutes exactly, when Crusader Ebu Camara booted a shot to the left side after receiving a pass from Alex Mitrovic.

The one shot turned out to be the only one in the first half for the Crusaders (1-1-1), while the Toros logged in seven on the period.

A costly penalty in the box enabled the Toros to even the score in the 78th minute, when Chica won the penalty kick for his first goal of both the day and season.

CSUDH moved ahead in the 84th minute. Brian Chavez connected to Emmanuel Corona on the left side and found Chica in the center who beat keeper Ryan Foo.

The Toros outshot the Crusaders 19-12 overall in the match. Goalkeeper Chase Gentry had to make seven saves while his counterpart Foo made nine.
