Ida Eriksson's Golden Goal with 35 Seconds Left Gives Toros Third CCAA Win

CARSON – The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team was 35 seconds away from leaving Toro Stadium with a scoreless draw, but Ida Eriksson turned what could have been one point at the final whistle into three by delivering a perfectly placed shot for the match's only goal to lift the Toros to a double overtime win over San Francisco State Friday evening.

The Toros, who improve to 6-2-0 overall, continue to add on to their impressive start to conference play at 3-0-0. The Gators, meanwhile, dropped to 2-1-2 in the CCAA.

Despite being outplayed offensively with the Gators taking 19 shots total, goalkeeper Elisa Martin and the Toros continue to keep lowering their goals-against average with their sixth shutout in eight contests this season. The Toros own a 0.25 GAA average which ranks the best in the CCAA.

CSUDH had only recorded 10 shots overall, four on goal. Martin had to make six saves on the evening.

The winning goal in the 110th minute wasn't an easy setup. Abigail Ponce tried to push the ball into the Gators penalty box but to no avail, Dana Dibble was behind to provide backup but the loose ball ended up on the foot of Eriksson, who took a shot from the top of the box that arched its way to the left side of the goal.

CSUDH closes out its season-long homestand Sunday with Cal State Monterey Bay visiting Toro Stadium. Kickoff is to follow the men's match at 2 p.m.
