No. 13 Golden Eagles Snap Toros Six-Match Unbeaten Streak in Non-Conference Finale

CARSON -- In the first of two scheduled rounds between the Cal State Dominguez Hills and No. 13 Cal State L.A. men's soccer teams, it was the Golden Eagles who came out on top after scoring three first-half goals and holding the Toros offense intact at the StubHub Center Field #3 Saturday evening.

The loss snaps the Toros (5-2-1) six-match unbeaten streak while the Golden Eagles remain undefeated at 4-0-3. Fortunately for the Toros the result did not affect their California Collegiate Athletic Association record, which still remains at 2-0-0 for 6 points. It will go on the record the next time the crosstown rivals meet at Cal State LA's campus October 5. CSUDH will finish the regular-season in CCAA play starting with San Francisco State Friday at 4:30 p.m. at Toro Stadium.

While Cal State LA edged the Toros in shots 12-10 overall, only five combined were recorded in the second half.

The eventual winning goal came off a corner kick in the 21st minute. Shahin Hemat sent it into the box where Tim Klefisch knocked it in.

Hemat would provide an insurance goal for the Golden Eagles less than five minutes later when he beat Toro keeper Chase Gentry in a one-on-one breakaway. The third goal came off a penalty kick taken by Ihsan Kalkan in the 43rd minute.

Gentry ended the night having made six shots.
