Toros Suffer First Loss of Season to Simon Fraser in Home Opener

CARSON -- After three consecutive shutout wins on the road to begin the 2016 season, the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team had the roles reversed at the hands of Simon Fraser in a 1-0 overtime decision, handing the Toros their first setback of the new year.

Katrina Cohen led the hosts with three shots including two on goal, but Simon Fraser tallied an 11-6 shot advantage in the contest, including the lone score in the 93rd minute.

On a day when the Toros opened their homestand and honored wounded veterans before the game, the hosts could not muster much offense, getting outshot 11-6 in the contest.

The Simon Fraser offense forced CSUDH keeper Elisa Martin to make four saves on the day, including three after intermission.

After 90 minutes without a score, the visitors wasted little time in securing the win as a free kick outside the penalty box found the head of Emma Pringle, who sent it past Martin for the golden goal.

The Toros kick off their CCAA ledger on Friday, hosting Stanislaus State for a 4:30 pm first kick in Toro Stadium.
