No. 24 Wildcats Sweep Series With Convincing 10-0 and 9-1 Wins

CHICO -- No. 24 Chico State continued its assault on Cal State Dominguez Hills pitching, racking up 19 runs en route to 10-0 (5) and 9-1 (5) wins to sweep the regular season series, outscoring the Toros 38-4 in the four games.

Damari Simon enjoyed a 2-for-2 outing in the nightcap, driving home the lone run of the day for the Cardinal and Gold.

The Wildcats again ran wild to begin the double, scoring five times before the Toros earned their first hit, a Jazmin Guzman one-out single in the fourth, a knock that proved to be the only offense in the opener.

Flirting with a no-hitter in the opener of yesterday's game, Wildcat Brook Langeloh duplicated her effort in the six-inning win as her offense put together a 13-hit attack in the run-rule contest.

Chico State continued to feast on Toro pitching in the nightcap, scoring eight times in the first three innings.

The Toros did score their first run of the day in the fourth courtesy of Simon's RBI single, but Haley Gilham worked herself out of a 2-on, 1-out jam by fanning Lyzette Reveles and inducing Madison Murphy to ground out to third base to end the threat.

Mathematically eliminated from CCAA postseason contention, the Toros now have dropped four-straight and 12 of their last 16.

CSUDH will conclude its regular season at home next weekend against Cal State Monterey Bay, starting Friday at 1 pm on Toro Diamond.  All CSUDH students with valid ID will have a chance to win an IPad Mini, courtesy of the CSUDH Division of Information Technology.
