Baseball Misses Extra Point in 20-7 Win at Concordia

IRVINE -- It was a game of mosts for the Cal State Dominguez Hills baseball team as it walloped host Concordia by a 20-7 score, marking the most runs scored in the 2016 season, the most runs scored since hitting the 20-run mark in March of 2012, and the second-most runs produced since scoring 21 runs in 2009.

Daryl Donerson's four hits led five Toros with at least two hits, with one coming in an 11-run sixth in which he batted twice and drove home a pair of runs as CSUDH improves to 17-18 on the year.

Jeffrey Gogue picked up the win after tossing 5.0 innings in relief, allowing four hits and two runs with five strikeouts.

Coming off a 2-1 series win at No. 23 Chico State last weekend, the Toros wasted little time in getting on the board, plating three in the first behind RBI singles by Parker Hokuf, Johnny Palmer and Donerson.

After that lead was erased by four Eagle runs in the second, the Toros tied the game with a run in the third before taking the lead for good with four in the fifth, the big blow coming on a Brandon Polizzi 2RBI triple to the gap in right center.

CUI earned two of the runs back in their 5th-inning at-bat, only to have the guests answer in a big way with 11 runs on just three hits as the Eagles plunked three CSUDH batters and saw the Toros send 14 men to the plate.

Palmer provided the big stick with a 3-run shot to right-center, with Brady Conlan bringing home two with a double to add to Donerson's 2RBI single.

The Toros rapped 19 hits in the win with all but two starters earning at least one knock.

CSUDH hosts Stanislaus State this weekend for a 3-game series, starting on Saturday morning on Toro Field.
