Lee Ties Career Points Record; Dominating Second Quarter Lifts Toros Over Cougars

OCEANSIDE — Senior Monay Lee has reached a milestone Thursday night.

The senior scored 15 points to join Tameka Blue as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball program's all-time points leader with 1,470 in the Toros 86-71 win over Cal State San Marcos.

Check out how Lee reached 1,470 career points.

Lee will have a chance to break the record at the Torodome on Senior Night. The Toros (16-7, 14-1 CCAA) will host crosstown rival Cal State L.A. Feb. 13 at 5:30 p.m. The game will also be 'Think Pink' night.

In addition to the 15 points, Lee also grabbed 11 rebounds for her fourth double-double of the season. Imari Brown led the Toros with 20 points off the bench, senior Breanne Garcia joined Lee with 15 points and came up an assist short from a double-double herself.

Ali Bettencourt rounded out the Toros in double figures with a dozen points.

The Toros altogether combined for a 45.3 shooting percentage and went 7-of-13 from 3-point range. CSUDH also dominated the boards 86-71.

Savannah Camps led the NCAA and CCAA newcomer Cougars (5-13, 3-10) with 22 points and came up a rebound short from a double-double. Ashley Jenkins came up short from a triple-double with 14 points, seven rebounds and assists each.

The Cougars were held to a 34.8 shooting percentile.

The difference in the game was in the second quarter, when the Toros outscored the Cougars 30-2 in the final 7:47 at the half to take a 54-28 lead.

But similar to Tuesday night's loss at CSULA, the Toros had trouble finding buckets and Cal State San Marcos went on to outscore them 24-14 and cut the lead to 14 heading into the final period.

The Toros did prevent the Cougars from cutting the deficit to single digits throughout the second half.
