No. 11 Lancers Cruise in Double Header Sweep

RIVERSIDE -- Freshman Damari Simon managed an RBI single in game one of today's twinbill at No. 11 Cal Baptist, but that was the extent of the Cal State Dominguez Hills offense as the Lancers limited the Toros to just three hits in a 7-1 win to open the afternoon before blanking the Cardinal and Gold by a 6-0 count in the nightcap.

After this weekend's action the Toros fall to 6-9 for the season, 3-6 in CCAA play.

CBU opened the first game of the double header strong, quickly leaping to a 5-0 lead after scoring 3 runs in the first and two in the third.

CSUDH looked to build momentum in the 4th Damari Simon drove home the speedy Kayla Lock, who was pinch running for Analisa Nicholson, on a single to right field.

The Toros' rally hopes would end there, however, with the CBU pitching staff allowing no more hits for the rest of the game.

The nightcap was reminiscent of the first game, with the Lancers jumping to a 5-0 lead again after three innings played.

The CBU pitching staff stifled the Toro bats all night long, allowing just 4 hits and earning 7 strikeouts.

The middle infield duo of Ivy Campbell and Jazmin Guzman would use defense to try to keep the Toros in the game, after both made a pair of impressive diving stops in the middle innings.

Their efforts would eventually fall in vain as the Toros allowed a final run in the 6th inning en route to the 6-0 defeat.

The Toros will stay on the road as they face Stanislaus State on Tuesday and Wednesday for a pair of double headers.
