CARSON –
Imari Brown scored 21 points,
Kayla Gillett added 18, but it was not enough as the Cal State Dominguez Hills women's basketball team was unable to contain No. 13 Cal Baptist's rebounding in the 80-68 home-opener loss Friday.
The Lancers (6-2) produced 24 second chance points off of 20 offensive boards. Overall, the Lancers dominated the rebounding column 53-37.
Gillett went 4-for-8 from behind the 3-point line while
Simone Thompson found the bucket twice from the distance.
Cassidy Mihalko finished the day with 23 total points and 11 boards and Tori Mitchell added 21 with 15 total rebounds to lead the Lancers.
Despite hitting seven 3-pointers, the Toros (3-3) shot 37.5 percent from the field. Of the 37 total rebounds the Toros collected,
Destinee Williams led the Cardinal and Gold with six.
CSUDH returns to the Torodome Saturday to wrap up the final day of the CCAA/PacWest Challenge as it takes on Point Loma at approximately 3 p.m. The Sea Lions are coming off an 88-84 loss to Cal State LA later in the day.
