Gillett Leads All Scorers as Toros Down Biola in 69-68 Exhibition

CARSON -- True freshman Kayla Gillett poured in 24 points to lead all scorers as Cal State Dominguez Hills downed Biola University in a exhibition game on Saturday in a 69-68 barnburner.  Gillett also added six boards, three assists, two steals and a block in her first contest in Cardinal and Gold.

As a team, CSUDH shot 36.7 percent from the floor, but built as large as a 16-point lead with just under 5:00 left in the final quarter before the Eagles mounted a furious charge, culminating in Biola's final of three free throws bouncing off the rim with a chance to send the game into overtime.

Simone Thompson added 17 points of the bench, as the Toros and Eagles nearly matched the other across the box score. 

Dijour Ledbetter and Jocelyn Diaz tied for team-high honors with seven boards each, with Diaz's three steals and Thompson's five assists playing huge parts in the win.

CSUDH completes it exhibition season on Friday, traveling to Whittier College for a 4:30 pm first tip.
