Balance Key as Toros Roll to 74-44 Exhibition Win at Whittier College

WHITTER -- It was quite a homecoming for junior transfer Jocelyn Diaz after the Whittier native scored a team-high 13 points to lead a balanced attack, helping Cal State Dominguez Hills to a convincing 74-44 win over Whittier College in its penultimate exhibition contest of the season.

The Toros, who led wire-to-wire courtesy of an Imari Brown bucket, took a 43-20 lead into the half and never looked back, winning the battle of the boards big to the tune of a 61 to 43 advantage.

Kayla Gillett added 11 for the Toros while Delaura Castanada (8), Dijour Ledbetter (8), and Destinee Williams (7) came within one bucket each of reaching double figures in points.

Although the Toros shot an inefficient 36.8% from the field, their defense held the hosts to an even lower 24.6%.

CSUDH kicks off its 2016-17 regular season schedule on November 11 against perennial power Azusa Pacific, with tipoff set for 5:00 pm.
