Early First-Half Goal Allows Cal State San Marcos to Sneak by Women's Soccer

SAN MARCOS -- The Cal State Dominguez Hills women's soccer team dropped another one-goal setback as Cal State San Marcos struck early in the first half and held on to the 1-0 win in The Cage Friday afternoon.

The Toros drop to 7-5-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the California Collegiate Athletic Association. Despite losing three straight, the Cardinal and Gold are still well in the race for the six-team CCAA Championship but are currently on the outside looking in with 12 points with five matches remaining. Cal Poly Pomona, which is idle this weekend, holds on to the final playoff spot by one point.

The Toros though will face another big challenge as they conclude the four-match road trip at ninth-ranked UC San Diego Sunday at 11:30 a.m. The Tritons currently have 18 points to lead the conference.

The lone goal of the match came in the 11th minute when Jessica Harloe's corner kick found the head of Courtney McLeish at the far post for her first goal of the season.

CSUDH was held to six shots overall, two on goal. The Cougars (5-3-4, 3-3-1 CCAA) was more dominant on the offensive category, recording four of their 10 total shots on goal.
