Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Toros Protect Dias' Goal to Win Third Straight Match

NAMPA, Idaho – Mike Dias's third goal of the season came less than three minutes into the match and the Cal State Dominguez Hills men's soccer team successfully protected the lead throughout the contest to defeat Northwest Nazarene 1-0 Saturday evening.

Joey Chica delivered a cross from the left side to find Diaz, who made a shot underneath Crusader keeper Ryan Foo for the goal 2:20 into the match.

Even though the Toro (3-1-0) defense did their part in the back by limiting the Crusaders (3-1-0) to 11 shots overall, seven of which were on goal, the offense racked up 19 total shots. Dias tallied seven while Pedro Velasquez fired all five of his shots to the goal. In fact, Northwest Nazarene's Ryan Foo even had to stop Pedro Valasquez's penalty kick in the 20th minute.

CSUDH recorded 10 shots in the second half, with Foo needing to save eight of them. The Toros had one close opportunity to add another goal in the 64th minute when Jaime Rios' shot deflected off the crossbar.

On the other side of the goal, Chase Gentry made six of the Toros seven saves to earn his first shutout.

The Toros conclude both the four-match road trip and non-conference play at NAIA member College of Idaho Monday. Kickoff is at 10 a.m. PDT.
